Sometimes the Best Way to Make Sure Something Is Done Right, Is to Do It Yourself

Terry Conroy, owner and founder of T-N-T Garage Door Services, broke away from the pack to go into business for himself and has never turned back.

Prior to starting T-N-T Garage Door Service, Terry worked for a residential and commercial garage door company. that dispatched jobs to employees based on location. When Terry grew frustrated with his employer’s work ethic, he created an opportunity for himself to improve upon all those practices and start his own business. With a wife and 3 kids counting on him, Terry quit his job and dove head first into this endeavour.


Terry’s wife Gina, who has a background in computer programming and communications, was his first recruit. As soon as Gina built the software package that now functions as the heart of their business, the couple eagerly took to the streets to obtain clients. Terry had a few customers who followed him to T-N-T, but not nearly enough to maintain the business.Terry and Gina walked from business to business in Coats, NC handing out business cards and looking for clients.

Within the first 2 months, their reputation enabled T-N-T to join a lead generation marketplace. They were quickly accredited with the BBB, and after 2 years hard at work, became an A+ rated company.

As any business owner, Terry faced the growing pains and accompanying challenges of expanding and maintaining a small business. Initially, Terry and Gina sought out traditional bank financing. As a new business without business credit, the Conroys applied through a merchant account rate – quickly realizing it was a tumultuous path littered with false promises, hidden fees and a contract they became locked into.

After their run with traditional financing, Gina went in search of alternative business financing lenders – that’s when she found Mulligan Funding.

Terry and Gina used funds from Mulligan to restock their inventory, increase advertising efforts and maintain a cushion for slumps in business. “If we didn’t seek out business funding with Mulligan we would easily be half the size, with half the revenue we currently have. We went from a two person operation to having 9 employees and 9 trucks. We’ve grown tremendously and thank Mulligan for helping businesses like ours move forward.”

T-N-T Garage Door Services has taken out 3 loans with Mulligan and “looks forward to a lasting working relationship with them.” They continue to expand their business and are opening up a new office in Fayetteville, NC this year.
