  • 01. Associate Credit Analyst

    The team of credit analysts at Mulligan are responsible and assessing the financial condition of small business loan applicants and approving or declining loans. The credit analysts evaluate financial statements to assess cash flow and liquidity in order to determine if loans should be approved or declined. Unlike working at a bank, this is an extremely fast-paced role that will involve decision making authority. Credit analysts must be adept at multitasking, critical thinking, and extemporaneous decision-making. New hires will be trained by experienced analysts. This position offers a high growth potential for quick learners and hard workers!

    Day-to-Day Job Duties:

    • Review financial statements and analyze business bank statements to determine credit worthiness of small businesses
    • Analyze personal credit reports of businesses and individuals
    • Assess how the guarantor personal credit may affect the creditworthiness of the business
    • Sizing and structuring loans for approved clients
    • Complete credit memos for approved loans that support the decision and the structure of the proposed financing
    • Conduct ad-hoc research on businesses to protect against fraud
    • Interview potential clients in order to further assess ability to repay
    • Decline loan applications that do not meet the minimum criteria

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors’ degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a similar discipline
    • Minimum GPA of a 3.0. May/June 2018 college grads are welcome to apply!
    • A strong grasp of accounting principles and ability to dissect financial statements
    • Prior internship or job experience in a finance or accounting related field.
    • Knowledgeable about the small business lending landscape in the U.S. with insights into various industry risk segments
    • Well-developed organizational, communication, and time-management skills
    • Adept in all Microsoft Office Products, G-Suite, and ability to quickly pick up new programs and CRM systems
    • Strong critical thinking, mathematical, and analytical skills
    • Ability to make complex decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • 02. Business Development Representative

We are looking for a Business Development Representative to act as a liaison between our marketing and sales team. Your role will be to seek new business opportunities, within our database, by contacting and pre-qualifying potential customers.

  • 04. Marketing Data Analyst

    We are looking for a data-driven individual with excellent analytical and reporting skills and experience to work alongside business stakeholders, primarily on our Direct Marketing team, to deliver insights and make recommendations. The ideal candidate will have the ability to tell stories with the data, communicate effectively and instill confidence in recommendations to motivate stakeholders to take action.
    Core Responsibilities:

    • Provide analytic support and strategic thought partnership to the Marketing team
    • Analyze mail and digital marketing performance data and provide intelligent synthesis, interpretation and appropriate action plans based on conclusions
    • Build recommendations by synthesizing data from multiple sources and developing assumptions, where needed to drive business insights and strategy development
    • Complete analytics projects requiring collaboration with business stakeholders
    • Own the accuracy, precision and publication of regular reports
    • Deliver key insights regarding the market, trends, potential and existing customer segments, and current campaigns with interpretation and recommendation, contributes to the development of hypotheses and actions, and presents them to management team

    Requirements:

    • 3-7 years of experience in data analysis
    • Must have experience working with direct mail and other marketing-channel analytics and large data sets in a commercial environment
    • Strong knowledge of SQL required, familiarity with R preferred
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Experience with BI tools (e.g. – Tableau/Tibco)
    • Experience with Google Analytics preferred
    • Experience with A/B testing setup and evaluation preferred
    • Outstanding communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues

  • 05. Sr. Credit Quantitative Analyst

    We’re looking for a Credit Quantitative Analyst to help us take a data-driven approach to growth and risk.  The role will entail understanding the entire user acquisition funnel from loan application through collections and will require a hands-on approach to tracking, experimentation, and optimization. In particular, the ideal candidate for this role will care deeply about credit risk management and developing ways/technologies for growing our loan portfolio while mitigating credit risk.

    Tasks:

    • This role will involve developing a deep understanding of the small business lending environment, and Mulligan’s credit/underwriting process, and will use that knowledge to recommend, develop, and deploy various credit models that will streamline and expedite the credit approval process while mitigating credit losses.
    • Track and monitor losses and successes and provide analytical insights into emerging problems and trends, (i.e.: economic, industry, geography, etc)
    • Create and manage the execution of the Credit Data Roadmap, including data management, analytical research, solutioning, product design, roll out and monitoring to ensure that the present and future needs of the Risk Management team are understood, prioritized, and delivered
    • End-to-end model development: Build prediction models from the ground up, from data exploration through feature generation and into model construction and optimization.
    • Support step-change improvements in credit risk performance by connecting drivers of future risk trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis

    Required Skills:

    • Master’s Degree in a highly quantitative field (Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, etc). The ideal candidate will also contain Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related business field.
    • 2 years of hands-on experience as a Quantitative Analyst, Data Scientist, Machine Learning engineer or a comparable analytical position.
    • Familiarity with credit scoring and use of data to inform credit decisions. Should be able to draw valid conclusions on credit product performance and level of risk direction, but not necessarily be expected to have attained mastery in this skill.
    • It is imperative that candidates have a proficient grasp of business lending and have experience with business risk-return trade off. For those candidates who have not worked in a lending environment, experience in business analytics, credit risk analytics, or risk manager is required.
    • An excellent understanding of both traditional statistical modeling and Machine Learning techniques and algorithms: Regression, clustering, assembling (random forest, gradient boosting), deep learning (neural networks), etc.
    • Work with large volumes of data; extract and manipulate large datasets using standard tools such as Python, Hadoop, SPARK, R, SQL, and SAS. Must have hands-on experience with Python or R and the supporting analysis libraries / ecosystem.
    • Skilled in Presenting – can effectively communicate in large or small group settings.
