  • 01. Associate Credit Analyst

    Mulligan Funding is a working capital lender providing businesses across the country with the capital they need to successfully compete, grow and thrive. With over $250M in funding to tens of thousands of clients throughout the country, Mulligan Funding is entering a new stage of significant growth.

    The team of credit analysts at Mulligan are responsible for assessing the financial condition of small businesses and approving/declining loan requests. Unlike working at a bank, this is an extremely fast-paced role with very little red-tape, that will involve decision-making authority. Credit analysts must be adept at multitasking, critical thinking, and extemporaneous decision-making. New hires will be trained by experienced analysts. This position offers a high growth potential for quick-learners and is open to recent graduates.

    Day-to-day job duties:
    • Review financial statements and conduct in-depth analysis of business bank statements to determine credit worthiness of small businesses
    • Analyze personal & business credit reports
    • Assess the impact of the guarantor on the company’s ability to service debt
    • Interview the owners/managers of businesses about company operations, cash flow, and proposed use of funds
    • Conduct ad hoc research on businesses and industries to protect against fraud
    • Size, structure, and price loans for approved clients
    • Complete credit memos for large loan approvals and present proposals to credit committee
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors’ degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a similar discipline
    • Minimum GPA of a 3.0
    • A strong grasp of accounting principles and ability to dissect financial statements
    • Prior internship or job experience in a finance or accounting related field
    • Well-developed organizational, communication, and time-management skills
    • Adept in all Microsoft Office Products, G-Suite, and ability to quickly pick up new programs and CRM systems
    • Strong critical thinking, mathematical, and analytical skills
    • Ability to make complex decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • 02. Lead UX Designer

    In the Lead UX Designer role you will work closely with internal and external users to shape the experience and design of Mulligan Funding’s software applications.  A successful UX Designer digs deep to understand user and business context, is able to navigate complex systems and processes, possesses an exceptional attention to detail, and has outstanding interpersonal skills.

    Key Functional Areas of Responsibility:
    • Take a user-centered design approach, and rapidly test and iterate your designs while collaborating with other team members and stakeholders.
    • Create new digital interface designs, including (but not limited to) user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes.
    • Work with engineering teams to ensure viability and proper implementation of the design vision, focusing on simplicity and ease of use.
    • Help develop flexible design guidelines to maintain consistent user interfaces across products and platforms as we grow.
    • Acquire a deep understanding of our internal and external users by conducting user research and evaluating user data.
    • Evangelize UX throughout the organization.
    Professional Skills & Qualifications:
    • Three or more years of UX Design experience.
    • Expertise in UX and design software such as InVision, Balsamiq, Avonni, Sketch and/or Photoshop is a must.
    • Experience developing user interfaces using Lightning Web Components in Salesforce is a plus.
    • Basic understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive insights and recommendations from data
    • A solid grasp of user-centered design, testing methodologies and usability concerns.
    • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple complex projects, working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders.

  • 03. Loan Application Processor

    Mulligan Funding is a leading, non-bank business lender catering to the financial needs of small and mid-sized businesses across the country who need working capital to successfully compete, grow and thrive.

    Headquartered in San Diego, we offer a fast-moving, collaborative work environment in the heart of the exciting, evolving Fintech industry. Our passionate group of analysts, underwriters, software developers and sales and marketing professionals have funded over $250 million in loans to businesses across the country. Our Credit team is responsible for assessing the financial condition of business loan applicants and approving or declining loans.

    The Loan Application Processor is Mulligan Funding’s first point of contact on a loan submission, supporting the qualification of businesses for working capital loans. It is a very faced-paced role with a high volume of loan applications to assess daily.

    The primary activities for this role include researching and validating important loan application information to ensure the application pre-qualifies for underwriting.

    This role will be responsible for completing a speedy assessment of each application file to ensure it should be moved forward in the process. The Loan Application Processor will decide whether loan applications submitted by brokers pre-qualify at the first level – and will move them forward in the process – or will decline deals that do not qualify. This role will also involve verifying and updating certain data points for applicants.

    Requirements:
    • Very fast on a computer: typing minimum 80 words per minute
    • Fast with new systems, toggling between different systems and learning new software
    • Strong on Excel
    • Highly focused and extremely detail oriented
    • Able to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Able to apply critical thinking and make decisions quickly
    • Confident enough to defend decisions and explain to Sales why an application may not pre-qualify or advance further in the underwriting process
    Preferred Skills and Experience:
    • Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Finance
    • Prior credit or finance training
    • Knowledge of loan and lease transactions
    • Typing 100 words per minute
    • Advanced Excel skills

  • 04. Portfolio Risk Analyst – Analytics

    We are seeking a portfolio risk analyst to join our quantitative and data science team. If you have exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, creativity, a desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and to make a direct impact on the success of the business, this is an opportunity for you. The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in, and also care deeply about, business credit risk management and developing ways/technologies for growing our loan portfolio while mitigating credit risk.

    Core Responsibilities:
    • Work closely with the SVP of Analytics, VP of Credit, CFO, and others in the business to define, assess, and document all business needs and requirements
    • Assemble, process, and analyze data related to all aspects of portfolio risk
    • Drive risk management strategies through analysis of portfolio and historical data, to maintain and improve business profitability
    • Build financial analyses and data reports to monitor portfolio trends
    • Support aspects of data analysis for development of statistical models
    • Deliver key insights from data analysis in the form of presentation materials
    • Own the accuracy and precision of analysis
    Required Qualifications:
    • Master’s in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Data Science, or similar quantitative field
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in underwriting and/or credit analysis at a financial institution
    • Exceptional risk assessment skills and business judgment as demonstrated by previous work experience
    • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, experience with statistical methods
    • Strong knowledge of Python and/or R, SQL, and Excel
    • Experience in business intelligence tools such as PowerBI or Tableau

  • 05. Senior Credit Analyst

    The team of credit analysts at Mulligan are responsible for assessing the financial condition of small business loan applicants and approving or declining loans. The credit analysts evaluate financial statements to assess cash flow and liquidity in order to determine the optimal loan structure for each our clients. Unlike working at a bank, this is an extremely fast-paced role that will involve autonomy and decision-making authority. Credit analysts must be adept at multitasking, critical thinking, and extemporaneous decision-making. Depending on the level of experience and how well the selected candidate performs, this role may quickly develop into a supervisor/management role as our credit team is rapidly growing.

    Day-to-day job duties:
    • Review & spread financial statements and conduct in-depth analysis of business bank statements to determine credit worthiness of small businesses
    • Analyze personal & business credit reports
    • Assess the impact of the guarantor financial position on the company’s ability to service debt
    • Interview the owners/managers of business applicants about company operations, cash flow, and proposed use of funds in order to determine credit worthiness
    • Conduct ad hoc research on businesses and industries to protect against fraud
    • Sizing, structuring, and pricing loans for approved clients
    • Complete credit memos for large loan approvals and present proposals to credit committee
    What You’ll Need:
    • Bachelor’s Degree from a accredited university, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a similar discipline. Minimum GPA of a 3.0.
    • Minimum 2 years experience in commercial (C&I preferred) or small business lending
    • A strong grasp of accounting principles and ability to dissect financial statements
    • Experience spreading and analyzing complete corporate tax returns, including balance sheets
    • Knowledgeable about the small business lending landscape with insights into various industry risk segments
    • Adept in all Microsoft Office Products and ability to quickly pick up new programs and CRM’s
    • Ability to make complex decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    Preferred Skills:
    • Underwriting experience at a fast-paced, nonbank, direct small business lender
    • Ability to calculate global debt service coverage ratios that incorporate guarantor and affiliate cash flow
    • Prior experience training and managing credit analysts
    • Strong grasp of various fraud identification strategies and current fraud tactics in the industry
    • Exposure to various credit and/or fraud risk models

  • 06. Software QA Engineer

    We’ve entered a new stage of significant growth. In support of this, our small, highly collaborative and high-performing technical team is expanding. What we need is a Software QA Engineer to support our fast-paced product development processes from start to finish.

    Key responsibilities:
    • Work closely with the engineering team to find software defects and advocate for their resolution
    • Expand on our existing feature testing suite to build a rich set of automated tests
    • Create and execute on testing play books where automated testing is not feasible
    • Work with the engineering team and subject matter experts on developing test plans
    • Educate and share QA testing methodology with the team
    • Shape and improve on our QA and testing processes as a part of an eventual SOC I certification
    • Track QA-related artifacts and metrics for reporting and auditing purposes
    • Cross-functionally collaborate with our internal teams to ensure delivery on requirements
    Requirements:
    • Genuine passion for quality assurance and a wish to drive and improve on a strong testing culture
    • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
    • 1-3 years’ experience performing QA for SaaS applications
    • A deep understanding of SDLC processes
    • Experience in data modification and web application testing
    • Comfortable using an automated test framework for web applications (Waitr, Selenium, etc.)
    • Experience writing automated tests (written in a scripting/programming language)
    Preferred Skills:
